This position is for a Customer funded Supplier Quality Engineer. Works as an individual contributor to set and achieve objectives of own area of responsibility. Influences supplier qualification/certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processes with knowledge and explanations of Supplier Quality & Compliance practices and procedures.
Manage PLV activity at suppliers
Facilitate PLV event at supplier site
Document/Manage PLV action items
Work with supplier to close PLV action items
Lead and Manage Manufacturing Process Review (PFMEA, CBR) activities at all suppliers
CAB – prepare quality data for suppliers (PAC-3 specific); RRCA
Analysis and present data in support of corrective actions associated with supplier data provided as part of CAB and verification of corrective action effectiveness.
Disposition QNs associated with procured material
Coordination with suppliers on RRCA
Coordination with suppliers on process and delivered quality improvement
Manage QNs associated with FARs (Corrective Actions, follow-up)
Coordination of RRCA from suppliers on failed parts (FARs)
Trending analysis of failures which result in FARs
Coordinate with the supply chain program focal to ensure no less than 24 hr TAT for all QNs.
Serve as a key SCM interface for NOC (notice of change) and SRI activity for the program.
Coordinate and perform routine visits to key suppliers to validate corrective actions, audit for requirements compliance.
Work proactive initiatives with suppliers to ensure that the supply chain is supporting Vermont operations for 100% OTD and complete customer satisfaction.
Ensure Supplier Scorecards are leveraged as continuous improvement leverage points for all key program suppliers.
Reviews and makes recommendations on quality data and contributes to the development of part / supplier specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.
Provides research on and explanations of root cause analysis & problem solving in escape management procedures. Makes recommendations for the development of corrective and / or preventive actions for systemic process and product design problems for product provided by suppliers.
Executes processes and procedures for supplier qualification / certification, source inspection and material release processes, and Correction Action Boards / DQ Clinics with suppliers.
Reviews processes and metrics and makes recommendations to ensure supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (UPPAP) acceptance.
Manages supplier quality issues through monitoring / escalation processes, escape management, processing of supplier submission of non-conforming material and supporting internal MRB processes.
Initiates part specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.
Supports supplier qualification / certification.
Manages Delegated Supplier Quality Inspection and material release processes.
Performs Escape management procedures, drives root cause analysis & problem solving (Red-X & 8D) and recommends corrective and preventive action for systemic process and product design problems for product provided by suppliers.
Ensures that supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (UPPAP) acceptance.
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
- Previous manufacturing industry experience preferred
