Are you ready to go beyond?

Provide structures analytical support for commercial and military programs, with responsibility for the durability and structural integrity of gas-turbine compressor components. This includes airfoils, rotors & shafts, cases, and actuation linkage systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical support for preliminary & detailed design, through development, validation, certification, manufacturing, and operational service.

  • Cover validation testing (engine and rig) and data-reduction.

  • Support in-service field investigations.

  • Participate on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost, and weight.

  • Provide oversight and technical guidance for less experienced engineers and outsourced tasks.

  • Document and present results to management and external customers.

  • Work independently on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable. Analysis may include both classical methods and detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for strength, stress, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.

  • Coordinate with others to advance the technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods, plus document and present results.

  • Provide technical coaching and mentoring to entry level structures engineers.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, a related Engineering field and 5+ years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in Engineering and 3+ years of prior relevant experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in structural analysis and problem-solving skills using FEA for stress/deflection and vibration analyses.

  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts

  • Ability to maintain a security clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Degree in Engineering

  • Working knowledge of ANSYS or other FEA software.

  • Awareness of manufacturing repair processes experience a plus.

  • Experience using P&W lifing (U553), ARLS, or crack growth (SURCK) systems a plus.

  • Experience with fatigue and fracture analysis is preferred.

  • Primary practitioner for structural analysis memos (SAMs).
