Pratt & Whitney designs, manufactures, and services the world’s most advanced aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems for commercial, military and business aircraft.
The selected candidate will support the Development Operations in West Palm Beach, FL as a CMM Applications Programmer. They will report directly to the Senior Manager of DO Quality. This position will require the programmer to generate CMM inspection programs in LKDMIS using blueprints, models, specifications, and other engineering documentation to support new product development, problem engine investigation and custom inspections to support Program manufacturability reviews of commercial and military products.
This role will require working closely with the hourly CMM inspection team to troubleshoot program issues, develop standard work and promote a better understanding of fundamental CMM inspection techniques.
Candidate will be responsible for scheduling calibration and maintenance of four LK Nikon CMMs.
Candidate will be responsible for improving CMM accuracy by recommending HVAC and environmental improvements to reduce temperature variability.
Candidate’s responsibilities would include working with internal and outside services to troubleshoot CMM issues, schedule PMs and perform calibrations to reduce time.
Candidate will require the selected candidate to at times work a split shift between first and 2nd shifts when training inspectors or trouble shooting.
Candidate will be responsible for working with DO QA supervision to develop CMM inspection training plans develop new CMM inspectors as well as to improve inspector capability and understanding.
Candidate will be responsible for creating inspection friendly CMM programs using LKDMIS/ CAMIO software for both development and occasionally production/aftermarket equipment and products.
Candidate will work closely with CMM operators and train them to become confident CMM inspectors capable of inspecting parts on their own with no oversight.
Candidate will be responsible for incorporating the latest IT solutions to simplify inspection programs to improve inspector capability and understanding
Candidate will be responsible for the calibration, maintenance of all CMMs and advanced metrology equipment in DO. This will include monitoring and recommendations to improve environmental specifications of existing HVAC environmental controls.
Candidate will be the metrology and inspection methods subject matter expert technically responsible for CMMs, advance metrology, bench inspection and the calibration lab.
Candidate will participate or lead VSM activities to improved part flow lean manufacturing initiatives that support continuous process improvement for DO Quality.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Computer Science, Quality, and 5 years of CMM and/or Quality experience or an Advance Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience in CMM programming and/or Quality.
In lieu of degree, 9 years of related experience in CMM programming and/or Quality.
Demonstrated experience generating complex CMM inspection programs using B. Ps and CAD Models.
Must be available to work primarily 1st shift and be willing to work a flex shift as required to meet business needs.
Must be able to travel up to 10%.
U.S Citizenship required due to Government Contracts.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security clearance.
Fluent in LKDMIS/ Cameo/Open DMIS.
Exceptional Blueprint interpretation and GD&T.
Working Knowledge of layout inspection methodology.
Working knowledge of Blue light programming experience.
Quality operations experience in an Aerospace or Automotive environment.
Experience training hourly inspectors.
Ability to process and communicate information using MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
