Pratt & Whitney has an exciting opportunity for a Development Operations Mechanic. A team member at this level is expected to work with assigned personnel or independently to perform flight-quality jet engine assembly/disassembly or related operations. This position requires a mechanical and technical aptitude and an ability to follow work instructions, while ensuring all functions are performed according to Pratt & Whitney, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Quality policies.
The ideal candidate for this position would be able to work varying shifts as needed.
Use a wide variety of power and mechanical tools to perform functional checks on engine assembly and components
Acquire tools and hardware as required to perform assembly and test procedures
Follow work instructions and procedures to assemble/dissemble jet engines, components, or other assigned work
Check all phases of assembly, as specified by work instructions, perform self-inspection or peer inspection of critical processes ensuring adherence to quality standards
Carry out other tasks within the scope of this job description to support department objectives and to develop individual skills
Support and participate in continuous improvement activities including 6S and QCPC
Perform all tasks at the highest level of safety awareness
Maintain and follow all tool control policies
Package engines for shipment to the customer
Maintain positive relationships
High school graduate or GED
U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts
4 years formal training in power-plant mechanics and testing
Formal training in power plant mechanics and testing
Experience working from complicated drawings, specifications, procedures, and instructions to fabricate, configure, install, remove/replace and set up a variety of power systems, components, modules, and associated equipment
Experience working with MS office Suite
Ability to obtain and maintain certifications to operate powered industrial vehicles
