Oversees the management and implementation of labor policy. Advises on contract negotiation, grievance cases, arbitrations, conciliations and federal and state labor legislation. Represents management in collective bargaining with unions representing company employees; provides counsel and assistance to employees in management. Administers and maintains compliance policies. Consults with other human resources managers and executive management to gain insight for personnel policy such as wages, benefits, pensions and work rules and practices that may be of concern when developing or revising union contracts Primary Responsibilities:
Works independently to administer labor and employee relations programs and policies.
Researches and compiles the facts related to employee grievances; confirms the labor and employee relations policies applicable to each case. Leads the tactical compliance of collective bargaining agreements, such as the mandated posting of job openings, determining the appropriate disciplinary actions, etc. as required by labor union contracts.
Serves as a second point of contact in labor relations matters that are not resolved following the initial resolution procedure.
Maintains a database of past grievance and dispute resolution proceedings to aid in resolving current cases based on past precedence.
Develops and prepares the information management needs to address corporate interests in the course of processing grievance
Recommends proposal and counter-proposal language used in the development of collective bargaining agreements and labor grievances.
Prepares documents and information requested by management for distribution to employees that advocates for union-free worksites.
Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses to support labor and employee relations initiatives.
Consults HR professionals as needed for information on talent management, total rewards and other HR policies and programs that is used to inform decision making during labor contract negotiations and grievance procedures.
Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is Required.
Must have a minimum 3 years of working in a unionized environment
Must have a minimum 2 years of Labor Relations experience
Must be willing to travel up to 15%
Must be a US Person/Permanent Resident 'Green Card' holder
Experience in manufacturing or aerospace
Experience working with senior leadership to communicate and implement HR programs to support the business goals
E xperience with linking HR initiatives to business objectives
Ability to analyze and use data and reporting to drive decisions and influence business leaders
Experience in coaching, interviewing and selection, performance management and training
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously
Demonstrated capability to communicate (written & verbal) and work effectively at all levels of the organization, inspiring respect and credibility
Ability to handle confidential information is essential
