The Collins Aerospace Avionics, Kidde Fire Protection Systems Manufacturing Engineering organization is looking for a motivated individual to be a Project Engineer, who ensures the successful execution of Manufacturing Engineering projects from inception, through deployment in the factory, as well as long-term support.

The ideal candidate will have an unwavering positive attitude, be highly responsive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and strive to perform high-quality work proactively and efficiently. This person will consistently demonstrate professionalism in their interactions with all levels of the organization and will routinely go above and beyond expectations in performing their work. They will have strong project execution, systems engineering, and critical thinking skills. They will be passionate about performing data analysis for creating accurate bids and crafting attractive proposals. This is a multi-faceted role requiring versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment. The role requires working closely with engineers and leaders, at various locations around the globe, to ensure project success. Organizationally, the role reports to a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in the Avionics Kidde Fire Protection Systems organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion.

  • Oversees and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.

  • Develops project plans, schedules and budgets, tracks progress, resolves problems, develops solutions, and forecasts project revenue.

  • Position focusses on supplier product evaluation, supplier capability evaluation and drives outsource project initiatives, and insource project initiatives.

  • Coordinates with other functional organizations. Identifies and addresses project problems, analyzes data gathered, and develops solutions and recommendations to solve problems, meet deadlines.

  • Analyzes data gathered and develops solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiency of work.

  • Maintains and presents plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s) to track progress and ensure that established targets are met.

  • Identifies and addresses project problems and recommends resolutions to ensure the successful completion of projects.

  • Facilitates project tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives.

  • Prepares artifacts for gate reviews.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Science, Technology, Engineering or Math degree required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have prior project leadership of multidiscipline engineering teams, managing customer relationships

  • Technical background preferred

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement processes
