We are searching for a Project Engineering Integrated Product Development (IPD) Team Lead to provide continuous support for the OPOC Program. The successful candidate will be working on the support of the production and acceptance testing of our many different products.

The Project Engineer responsibilities include leading Integrated Product Development (IPD) Team efforts. This position will take direction from the Program Chief Engineer and Program Engineer Manager for the ORION Production and Operations Contract (OPOC) Program. The OPOC Program is comprised of environmental and thermal control equipment including but not limited to fan, heat exchanges, pumps controllers, cold plates and valve assemblies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the IPD teams consisting of Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Design, Supplier Quality, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planners, and Purchasing to drive delivery of these products within the approved budget and schedule

  • Coordinating setting team meeting agendas, leading team meetings and driving action item closures

  • Team activity scope control, including status and corrective action plans to budget challenges

  • Coordination of engineering change activities

  • Coordination and driving failure investigation activities

  • Driving issue resolution closures due to assembly, test and procurement challenges.

  • Ability and desire to become and perform export classifications for the program

  • Participate in regular reviews with the customer to communicate status of contracts and schedule.

  • Provide direction to IPT (Integrated Product Team) for actions on in-process hardware.

  • Develop and manage program schedules to drive on-time contract deliveries

  • Utilize Earned Value methodology to forecast program demands and track project completion.

  • Process engineering changes to ensure high quality, conforming hardware is being received, built, and delivered to our customers

  • Drive the execution of all engineering responsibilities on the program while meeting both internal and external customer expectations Direct communication with customers will be required – including daily tag-ups, weekly meetings, and quarterly meetings. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), technical experience, and the ability to work as cross-functional team member.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

  • Prior experience in related Engineering discipline(s)

  • Experience with environmental control hardware (e.g. contaminant control, air revitalization, humidity control etc.)

  • Experience/familiarity with brazing and welding processes

  • Experience troubleshooting (specifically with respect to MRB disposition) in troubleshooting problems on the production floor and coming up with creative solutions that maintain product quality while minimizing cost/schedule impact

  • Participate in contract proposals, including BOE and BOM estimates

  • Strong computer skills, MS Office, Windchill, SAP, SharePoint

  • Natural presence/comfortable presenting to internal and external customers

  • A desire to lead with the purpose of improving IPD Team performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with SAP, and UTAS Engineering Change System are a preferred

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a preferred
