The security officer, among other things, is responsible for controlling physical access to Collins Aerospace, in Windsor locks, CT, on a 24/7/365 basis. Maintaining a high degree of vigilance, and professionalism while assigned to security posts and checkpoints throughout campus facilities. Expected to protect company, personnel, processes and equipment. This position is represented and requires availability to work overtime as needed. Selected candidates are required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance and obtain a Medical Responder certification. This position is geographically located in One Hamilton Road. Windsor Locks, CT 06096.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform various duties in the enforcement of company rules and regulations and in the prevention of lawful interference with plant activities and security requirements and occasionally operate computer monitored electronic security control systems.

  • Perform assigned duties under direction of designated supervisor, related to various security locations to control the ingress/egress of persons and material on company property.

  • Check badges for proper identification or receive authorization prior to issuance of temporary or visitors badges and subsequent access to company property; check vehicles, packages, or other containers for unauthorized and/or potentially harmful contents.

  • Challenge any and all person(s) on plant properties whose conduct or actions arouse suspicion; report questionable circumstances or persons to superior(s).

  • Make complete plant inspections during ALL respective security assignments, checking security of storage containers to prevent to prevent unauthorized exposure of proprietary or classified material, unauthorized entrances, or suspicious circumstances.

  • Report unusual conditions to supervisor.

  • Patrol company properties to insure parking and security measures are in accordance with directives.

  • Direct and control traffic on and adjacent to plant property and monitor compliance with parking regulations.

  • Operate cruiser or other company vehicles in parking lots or on the highways, as assigned.

  • Secure gates and doors at specified times.

  • Recognize and respond to various security or fire alarms and medical or other emergencies in a timely manner to protect company personnel and property and to insure against compromise of classified information or materials. During emergency situations, sound alarm when necessary and provide assistance to apply safety procedures, administer first aid, operate emergency equipment, or eliminate hazardous conditions.

  • Receive, transmit and record radio and telephone communications.

  • Operate door monitoring systems as required.

  • Become familiar with computer monitored electronic security systems such as CCTV, card key access systems and intrusion systems.

  • Occasionally operate the security console and override programmed responses based on real time satiation evaluations.

  • Prepare written reports describing unusual circumstances, stating action taken to investigate and/or correct.

  • Keep any necessary records relating to performance of duties, perform other duties related to plant protection responsibilities and perform assignments as directed by supervisor(s).

  • Maintains uniforms, equipment and surroundings in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2-years-experience in law enforcement, criminal justice or related field

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must have a valid CT driver’s license

  • Must be able to obtain a government secret clearance.

  • Must be eligible and able to obtain a Guard Card (Blue Card)/

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related.

  • Able to maintain US Government secret clearance.

  • Certified State of CT Emergency Medical Technician B

  • Guard Card (Blue Card)

  • Military experience

  • Basic Emergency Medical Responder certification required after successful completion of hiring.

  • Basic computer skills/Microsoft Office related programs.
