The Senior FPGA / ASIC Engineer works with a global team of engineers on electronic control units for aerospace applications to complete CPLD and FPGA designs, simulations, synthesis, floor-planning and lab integration. Examples include processor card input/output (I/O) control with FPGAs, I/O card FPGA controllers, specialty test FPGA controllers for cards and designs supporting vertical lift helicopter controllers, fixed wing controllers, engine, weapons, cargo, missile, & special test equipment controllers.
The Senior FPGA / ASIC Engineer supports the entire design life cycle from project planning efforts to entry into service and production transition support, including requirements definition using DOORS, detailed design, validation of requirements and verification of implementation. The Senior FPGA / ASIC Engineer manages Problem reports for hardware that has already been delivered.
Primary Responsibilities:
Follow DO-254 Level A program planning documentation, and ensure CPLD/FPGA design adheres to the plans
Capture and document the customer flowed down functional requirements, develop and document the derived requirements for FPGAs
Design FPGA architectural diagrams, develop VHDL to implement the design critical functionality
Develop sub-functions and test benches
Perform engineering timing simulations and functional analysis
Interface with the V&V team and Quality Engineers to support the creation of the DO-254
Support project planning efforts and ensure execution to schedule and budget
Create and review engineering documentation
Research, develop, design and test electrical components, equipment, systems and networks to ensure business objectives and required specifications are met.
Prepare documentation including confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, information on product development, introduction schedules, product costs, performance weaknesses to track progress and analyze performance.
Perform engineering work and applied research, development and design of new products to ensure quality standards and business objectives are met.
Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial and domestic purposes.
Produce products according to specifications, using the most cost effective and efficient means.
Analyze and evaluate new or improved electronic components, including circuit theory, computer design and development, instrumentation, radio communications, semiconductor devices, solid state devices and television systems.
Work with a global team of engineers, on electronic control units for aerospace applications to complete CPLD and FPGA designs, simulations, synthesis and lab integration.
Supports the entire design life cycle from project planning efforts to entry into service and production transition support.
Requirements definition using DOORS, detailed design, validation of requirements and verification of implementation.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering
Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Experience simulating HDL and using Mentor Modelsim
Experience with Actel, Xilinx, FPGAs and development tools
Experience with FPGA lab integration and troubleshooting knowledge
Experience with Hardware Verification including, test procedure development, robustness testing and debugging
Experience with hardware configuration management and problem reporting tools
Experience learning new programs/software
Experience working under pressure and within time constraints
