The Senior Project Engineer monitors and controls the project scope, cost, schedule and risk. The Senior Project Engineer collaborates with multi-disciplined, technical design and project management teams. Together they execute engineering activities in the design, development, and integration of aircraft engine electrical systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage design and integration of pressure and vibration sensor components in accordance with engineering standard work

  • Typical projects include hardware engineering design improvements, as well as new product development from proposal, through certification, and into production

  • Position requires significant time managing field investigation including using the Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action (RRCA) process and tools

  • Coordinate with stakeholders including Collins internal, Suppliers, and Customer

  • Provide design oversight of specifications, drawings, and test plans

  • Develop and manage project risk mitigation plans

  • Develop and present detail presentations of engineering design reviews, as well as internal program management and customer reviews

  • Hold regular meetings with the cross functional team, suppliers, and customers

  • Position will report to the engineering Project Manager of the Supplied Designed Equipment (SDE) Engineering Group.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with planning, multi-tasking and meeting schedule and budgets

  • Experience working in a team environment

  • Experience collaborating across the organization
